Discover Sailing Day

On Saturday May 15th the project hosted a Discover Sailing Day at Alton Water. This was an opportunity for people to come down and see what we do and how our specially adapted boats allow anyone to get on the water whatever mobility or other constraints they may face. We were bowled over by the response 45 people came down to try things out and have a go in our RS Ventures and our Hansa 303s.
The sun shone and the wind blew and while the wind direction wasn't perfect, the conditions were enjoyed by all with families often going out together to get a flavour of what dinghy sailing is like. We look forward to welcoming new sailors to our Thursday evening youth group open sailing sessions (every Thursday 5-7pm) and hope that others may want to come along to some of our regular sailing sessions during the week at Alton Water and Woolverstone.
Thanks to the huge team of volunteers who organised it all and took everyone out sailing.
